VennTerra is a full spectrum land development company. While we focus primarily on residential land development we also have a modest portfolio of commercial sites. The majority of our projects are located in the Triad area of North Carolina. VennTerra’s land development models incorporate variations of land acquisition/investments, land conveyance, design/entitlement, civil site construction, and vertical construction to deliver high quality, context sensitive projects. VennTerra is strategically positioned for efficient project delivery via an in-house professional engineering/design team, grading company, and building partnerships.
The VennTerra umbrella represents over 4,500 completed lots via entities and partnerships dating back to 2010 when distressed real estate was acquired during the Great Recession in an effort to re-establish and revitalize neighborhoods. This created positive impacts on those communities, both socially and economically by increasing property values, attracting new businesses and residents, and contributing to the much-needed housing inventory. VennTerra continues to engage in land development that is strategic and balanced to deliver high quality projects for the communities we work in.

Shawn Cummings
Shawn Cummings brings nearly three decades of combined experience in land development, investments, and insurance, to his role as Founder and CEO of VennTerra. With 15 years leading VennTerra and 16 years managing Venn Partners, he has played a pivotal role in shaping residential communities. His career also includes executive roles at Agency Partners and Greenpoint Insurance Group. A graduate of Kenyon College with a degree in History and Political Science, Shawn holds multiple industry certifications, including CIC, LUTCF, and CWCA.
Daniel Lim
Daniel Lim was born in Malaysia and immigrated to the United States in 1983 to further his education and pursue the American Dream. Over the next four decades, through hard work, perseverance, and ingenuity, he established himself as a successful entrepreneur and respected leader in the furniture industry. An astute real estate investor and business strategist, Daniel has founded and grown multiple mutlimillion-dollar companies. He is widely recognized for his business acumen, resilience, and visionary leadership.
Jim Murray
Jim brings more than 30 years of business experience and serves as the COO. A graduate with a Daten Degree in Management, Jim’s primary responsibility is to ensure VennTerra has the right people serving in the right positions throughout the organization. Additionally, Jim helps VennTerra develop and implement the systems and infrastructure to reach our corporate objectives.
Lisa Brewer
Lisa Brewer brings over 25 years of experience in finance, accounting, and insurance. With 14 years as Senior Vice President and controller at Greenpoint Insurance Group and 12 years as controller at Piedmont Development, she has demonstrated expertise in financial management and strategic planning. A graduate of Greensboro College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Lisa holds multiple industry certifications, including CIC, CISR, CIIP, and DAE.
Melinda Braddy
Melinda Braddy brings over 30 years of accounting experience and more than two decades of construction industry knowledge to her role as a financial professional. With a strong foundation in bookkeeping and insurance, she has developed expertise in managing complex financial operations. A graduate of Alamance Community College with an Associate of Arts and Sciences in accounting, Melinda is highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, and accounting applications.
Nolan Kirkman, PE
Nolan Kirkman brings over 30 years of experience in engineering, infrastructure management, and public service (27 years with the City of Burlington, 3 years with the NCDOT) playing a key role in land development, capital projects, transportation and public works. A graduate of NCSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Nolan is a recipient of the Governor’s distinguished Order of the Long Leaf Pine award and holds multiple licenses and certifications, including Professional Engineer, ICMA Credentialed Manager while at the City, General Contractor, and Electrical Contractor.
Todd Lambert, PE, CFM
Todd Lambert brings 30 years of engineering experience to VennTerra. He holds a Civil Engineering Degree from NCSU. He has held key leadership roles, including City Engineer for Burlington, Chief Designer & Civil Engineering Construction Manager for Greensboro, and Resident Engineer for Simmons Engineering & Surveying. A licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina, Todd also holds certifications as a Certified Floodplain Manager and a Certified Autodesk Professional in Civil 3d for infrastructure design. He also served as the chairman of the Alamance County Planning Board.
Scott Krusell, PE
Scott Krusell is an experienced civil engineer with a focus in infrastructure design and project management. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from NCSU and he spent almost three years at ESE Consultants, serving as a Senior Engineer and almost six years as a Graduate Civil Engineer at Pennoni. Scott’s expertise in engineering design and development makes him a valuable contributor to complex civil projects.
Bill Boone
Bill Boone, Head of Grading Operations at VennTerra, LLC, brings 32+ years of expertise in heavy equipment operation, quality assurance, and leadership. As the former owner of B&H Grading, Bill brings a proven track record of success. His technical and communication skills drive efficiency and project delivery. Committed to quality and innovation, Bill ensures timely and reliable civil site works through problem-solving and effective team collaboration.
David Whitfield
David brings over a decade of experience in team and project leadership. He serves as a Project Coordinator, supporting the Land Development Team by managing communication, organization, and execution of projects. He holds an AAS in Business Management with a focus on HR and is currently pursuing a Geomatic Engineering degree specializing in Survey Technology and Drone Flight. An FAA-certified Remote Pilot, his background spans personal banking and service, helping people and businesses achieve their goals.

Logo Origin
The VennTerra logo combines a Venn Diagram with contour lines to represent a theme of strategic and balanced land development. The symbol shown represents the common area of a Venn diagram, which takes the shape of a Reuleaux triangle. The “Terra” in the brand is Latin for Land and is represented by the contour lines.
